When I saw the $40 price increase this coming April 2, 2018 my jaw dropped. C’mon dotPH I can register a .com for less than $10 from Moscom.com that makes .com extension is a lot better than .PH to own and maintain long term. What are you thinking increasing the price instead of making it affordable to all Filipino entrepreneurs and businesses. The price of servers and storage solution gone down for the past years, your price should reduce the registration and renewal cost as well, not increase it.
I hope the Philippine Government are looking at this “high” increase of registration and renewal from dotPH. The increase doesn’t help us at all, for sure the dotPH management will be happy to receive big fat bonuses.
It doesn’t stop at $40 per domain registration and renewal. Next year January 1 2019, the price will go up again to $50 and on January 1, 2020 the registration cost will be $60 per year.

Here’s the Pricing and Policy changes announcement from dotPH.
Effective April 2, 2018 (12:00am GMT+8), dotPH will implement a price increase for all Foreign Registrars. The price increase will take effect gradually over the course of the next three years, as follows:
1. Starting April 2, 2018, registrations and renewals will be charged at US$40.00 a year.
2. The next phase of the increase begins on January 1, 2019, when registration and renewals will be charged at US$50.00 a year.
3. The final phase will take effect on January 1, 2020, at which time registration and renewals will be US$60.00 a year.
The prices apply to all levels of the .PH namespace, including .ph, com.ph, net.ph, and org.ph.
Philippine Registrars will stay at current prices.
A Philippine Registrar is defined as locally incorporated; neither owned, a subsidiary of, nor an affiliate of a Foreign Registrar or company; with an actual physical presence and operations in the Philippines; and primarily serving the local market.
Proxy addresses, correspondence addresses and virtual offices will not be sufficient to qualify as a local Registrar. Registrar information and new applications will be monitored to ensure compliance and that the Registrar’s information is accurate.
Use of a Philippine Registrar as a proxy to register domains and providing inaccurate information in an attempt to avail of local pricing will not be allowed and will result in penalties, including transfer of all domains registered under false pretenses away from the erring Registrar and loss of Registrar accreditation.
Philippine Registrars will also be monitored so that they do not use preferential pricing to poach foreign registrar clients or serve as a proxy for Foreign Registrars.
Local Registrars currently service primarily local registrants. If we see untoward significant increases in their levels of foreign registrations or uncover use of proxy services, sanctions may be imposed, up to and including revocation of local pricing and/or termination of their Registrar status.
